The Pearson BTEC International in Business Diploma, awarded by Pearson (United Kingdom), is a globally recognised qualification designed for globally mobile adult learners seeking practical, career-focused business education.

 

Equivalent in size to two International A Levels, the diploma supports progression to BTEC Extended Level 3 qualifications, higher education, or professional advancement.

What You'll Be Able to Do

Upon successful completion, you will be equipped to:

  • Analyse business organisations—their structures, environments, and purposes—and evaluate how innovation ensures their survival.

  • Understand and apply marketing research methods to plan a targeted campaign.

  • Analyse financial data to assess a business's health and propose strategies for improvement.

  • Apply core business concepts to formulate informed decisions and practical solutions.

  • Collaborate within a team to plan, manage, and evaluate a business or social enterprise event, reflecting on performance.

Programme Delivery & Assessment

This 8-month, part-time diploma is delivered through a flexible blended learning model, assessed entirely by practical coursework.

​Delivery: 90% online learning and

10% in-person, on-campus facilitation

Your 720-hour learning journey comprises:

  • 559 hours – Synchronous E-Learning: Guided online lessons and collaborative study.

  • 48 hours – Live Facilitation: Interactive virtual workshops.

  • 113 hours – Applied Coursework: Practical assignments and projects.

Teacher-student ratio: 1 to 15

​Assessment: 100% coursework

 

Learning is assessed primarily through internally set and marked coursework, which may include:

  • Assignments, projects, and case studies.

  • Professional reports and presentations.

  • Practical tasks in simulated or actual workplace settings.

  • Portfolios of evidence, observations, and reflective accounts.

Some mandatory units may feature Pearson-set assignments or externally assessed tasks.

What You'll Need to Start

  • Age: Must be at least 16 years old.

  • Language Proficiency: Provide evidence of English proficiency via:

    • GCE O-Level English Language (Grade C6 minimum); or

    • IELTS (Overall 5.5); or

    • TOEFL (500 PBT / 56 IBT).
      (Note: Applicants who do not meet the above must successfully pass Bencoolen Academy's English Proficiency Placement Test.)

  • Academic Qualifications: Hold one of the following:

    • A Pearson BTEC Level 2 qualification in any discipline; or

    • GCE O-Level with a minimum of two C6 grades (one may be English); or

    • An equivalent GCSE O-Level certificate.
